HELP JAMAICA -
Hurricane Melissa Relief
on Tuesday, October 28, Jamaica was struck by Hurricane Melissa, a catastrophic Category 5 storm that brought devastation of apocalyptic magnitude. The hurricane decimated the western end of the island, leaving behind total destruction. Homes, businesses, churches, schools, hospitals, and government buildings were obliterated. Entire communities have been wiped out, and the island’s infrastructure and communication systems have been ripped apart and left in ruins.
The losses are immeasurable — lives, livelihoods, and the very fabric of daily existence have been torn away. Both the farming industry and the tourist industry have been decimated. Yet, amid the rubble, the people of Jamaica remain steadfast. Traumatized but unbroken, they face this devastation with courage, faith, and a determination to rebuild, giving thanks to God for the precious gift of life.

We invite you, as people of faith and good will, to join us in responding with love and tangible support. Together with numerous relief organizations, churches, and concerned partners around the world, we aim to bring restoration, healing, and hope to the thousands who now stand amid loss and desolation.

We implore you to help Jamaica by giving whatever you can—no contribution is too small.
The Seymour Institute for Black Church and Policy Studies will direct your gifts to support either: local churches, which have come together to rescue, shelter, and care for survivors, or The Government of Jamaica, working through its official relief channels, including the various government ministries, the Constabulary Force (JCF), and the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF).
